Melbourne’s ateliers, workshops, studios and independent stores are buzzing with the creativity of designers and artists who produce quirky, boundary-pushing fashion & design.
Once Upon an Afternoon showcases these Melbournian independent creatives, featuring jewellery design from EMMA JANE DONALD & METAL COUTURE, men’s wear from KOLLATE, women’s wear from PREAP & COUTTS and CHARLOTTE WEBB, t-shirts and streetwear by KOSI KOSI & CHAPTER 11, and a fabulous costume design finale by local costumier MARNIE BARCZAK. It’s an afternoon of fashion, art, film and music, with the fashion modelled by local DJs, performers and musicians; there’ll be DJs, showbags for the first hundred punters through the door and great video art by Leila Koren.
Think of it as an anti-fashion event for people who love fashion & design without the pretension - we don’t use models, we don’t strut the catwalk to ironic eighties house. It’s just good fashion, great design, and all available in Melbourne. Be there, and be part of the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week cultural program.
